Expat
Program
and Re-entry

on Intercultural, building bridges between cultures, connecting people

Considering moving to a new country? Then Expat Program is for you.

The Expat Program introduces the new host culture to leaders, executives, managers, employee reducing the effects of culture shock.

It translates into a smother integration into the new environment and team resulting in earlier effectiveness and acceptance by the team. Their position in the company will be boosted.

"To enter other cultures is to re-enter one's own" (Phipps & Gonzalez)

Cultures

I specialise in:

  • United Kingdom
  • France
  • Uruguay

Other cultures on request.

Who

The Expat Program is meant for:

  • Executives, managers, employees posted or about to be posted abroad
  • and their families

Results

  • Identify potential misunderstandings or conflicts in cross-cultural situations before they become critical;
  • Develop strategies to cope with cross-cultural misunderstandings or conflicts;
  • Understand and accept cultural differences;
  • Gain a better understanding of your own culture.

Moving back home

An idealised memory of the home country can prove devastating when confronted with reality. The family has so many stories to share, but who is listening?

Support to returnees will vary depending on whether they have been

  • socialised (fitting back in);
  • alienated (gone native);
  • proactive (synergistic).

Method

The Expat Program, customised to meet the learner's needs and goals, is a  mix of knowledge and learner participation in games, role playing, quizzes, videos with full debrief.

"Not having heard something is not as good as having heard it; having heard it is not as good as having seen it; having seen it is not as good as knowing it; knowing it is not as good as putting it into practice" from Book 8, chapter 11 of  Xunzi (3rd century BC).

The teaching style is adapted to the learner's own culture and learning style.
